The Coreana Art & Culture Complex is the largest museum in Korea exclusively for cosmetics and was created to preserve and promote beauty items and the make-up culture of Korea. It contributes to the education and research of the nation’s cosmetic culture by presenting the history of women in Korea, including the exhibition of traditional make-up tools. Myogaksa, located in downtown Seoul near Mt. Naksan, is one of the best places where you get a great view of the entire city of Seoul. It is a relatively new temple, at least in context to its long history. The temple grounds themselves are rather small; however, the temple buildings are beautifully arranged both with each other and nature. The true highlight to this temple is the beautifully carved image of Gwanseeum-bosal (The Bodhisattva of Compassion). It offers the urbanites a chance to experience Temple Stay.
South Korea discovered the 3rd tunnel in 1978. It spans over 1,635m in length, 2m in width, and 2m in height and is located 52km from Seoul. It is estimated that approximately 30,000 soldiers could move through the tunnel per hour. The scale is similar to the 2nd tunnel, but it was thought to be more threatening as an invasion tool than the 1st and 2nd Tunnels. The Dora Observatory, located at the top of Mount Dora, has one of the best views of reclusive North Korea as viewed from the south. It is one of the closest places visitors will be from North Korea on a tour of the DMZ. Situated in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do and at the northernmost point of the Military Demarcation Line, Dora Observatory was first opened to the public in January 1987. You can overlook North Korea and various locations, including Gaeseong, Songaksan, Kim Il-Sung Statue, and Cooperation Farm (Geumamgol).
Away from the capital of South Korea 54 kilometres, Imjingak is the last village before the famous area called the DMZ or in other words demilitarized zone. In this village, you can still see on your own eyes remnants of the Korean war more than 60 years old. The park, located 7 km from the Military Demarcation Line, is now at the forefront of tourism related to the Korean Conflict. It was built in 1972 with the hope that someday unification would be possible. Three-storied Imjingak is surrounded by several Monuments, Unification Park and North Korea Center. Four hundred kinds of photos and documents showing the stark reality of North Korea are displayed in the North Korea Center of Unification Board. Outside Imjingak, there are 12 kinds of tanks and crafts on display that were used during the Korean Conflict.
JSA (Joint Security Area) Visitor Center, as a filming location of the famous Korean movie "JSA", organized the formation background of Panmunjom, will help you understand the security situation of the Korean Peninsula. It is now beyond the jurisdiction of both the North and South, surrounded witness the high tension between North and South Korea leading from the Korean War until today.
Panmunjeom is located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), 50 km north of Seoul and 10 km east from the city of Gaeseong, a city of North Korea. The conference center in Panmunjeom is surrounded by the Joint Security Area (JSA) and measures 800 meters in diameter. It is the only portion of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. It was also the site of military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command (UNC). With JSA, it has now become one of the most visited tourist sites of Korea.
